2024 Pre-Registration Info

This webpage provides information for students who applied and were invited to attend California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) for the 2024 session. If you were invited to attend CSSSA, you should have received an email letting you know of your decision. The email will specify the department, and any relevant concentrations within that department. If you applied to more than one department, please look for an additional email with a decision for that department. If you applied for Financial Aid, you should have also received an email with your award, if applicable.

This webpage outlines the next steps to complete your pre-registration process. Please read the following carefully!

Next Steps – Due May 15th

The first task to complete is to fill out your DocuSign Pre-Registration Packet, sent to the student and the parent/guardian by email. This is the packet that will confirm your space in the program. It includes 4 forms to fill out. Both the student and the parent/guardian were sent the DocuSign packet, and BOTH will need to sign the forms. Please do not forward the packet to the other party. You have received the packet to your own personal email, and the required fields are only for you to fill out!

DocuSign Form 1 – Intent to Enroll:

This form is signed by both the student and the parent/guardian. You are saying “yes” to attending the program by signing this form. If you do not wish to attend the program, there is a decline button, which only the student can see. Click that button, and the rest of the forms with be removed from your packet.

DocuSign Form 2 – Participation Agreement:

This form is signed by both the student and the parent/guardian. You are basically agreeing to all of the terms in the 2024 CSSSA Student Handbook as well as those listed on the form. Click Here to access the handbook and review the terms. Please review the handbook carefully before signing!

DocuSign Form 3 – Medical History Form:

This form is only completed by the parent/guardian. You will list the student’s medical history, as well as any medications that the student will be taking while at CSSSA. If you have a prescription update before CSSSA, don’t worry; you can simply stop by Health Services on Registration Day (July 6th) with your updated prescriptions. Please fill this out to the best of your ability. Our health professionals will use this form to note when prescriptions are administered. You can also request reasonable accommodations on this form.

DocuSign Form 4 – Overnight Permission Form:

This form is only signed by the parent/guardian. Some students prefer to be picked up on Saturday afternoons once classes have ended. Students must sign out before leaving the campus, and they must return by Sunday at 8:00 pm. Students can also leave for just the day, on Sunday, if preferred. There are many reasons to stay on campus, however, including activities and optional field trips! Please note, if this form is not filled out in advance of the program, the student cannot leave the campus.

***Please complete this DocuSign packet by Wednesday, May 15th! If either the student or the parent/guardian have not completed this packet by the deadline, the spot will be given to another student on the waiting list.

Next Steps – Due May 31st

To complete your pre-registration process, you have until Friday, May 31st to complete the requirements on the CSSSA Web Portal, and to pay your tuition and fees. The web portal steps can be completed by visiting this link on our website – CSSSA Pre-Registration Portal. Tuition and fees invoices were sent directly by email, and they included a link to pay by debit/credit card.

1. Web Portal Instructions:

To access the portal, you will need to log in using your CSSSA ID Number. This number was included in your invitation email to attend CSSSA. Secondly, you’ll need to type in your first and last name. Finally, you’ll enter your date of birth with the following month-day-year format: 00/00/0000. (If you cannot log in, please email CSSSA at comments@csssa.ca.gov. Your log in credentials have been created with the information you provided on your CSSSA application. In rare cases, a student may have made a typo when initially applying to the program with this information.)

Once you are logged in, you simply need to upload/complete the following:

a. Upload Medical Insurance Card(s):

CSSSA needs both the front and back of your insurance card(s). This is used if you need a prescription or need to see an Urgent Care or Emergency Room physician. Please note, there are some file types, namely HEIC files, that do not upload to the portal. This is the file type created with an iPhone photo. Please make sure to covert any images to PNG or JPEG files.

b. Upload Immunization Records:

Please contact your general physician for your most up-to-date immunization records and upload them to the portal. Health Services keeps this on file during CSSSA. Similar to the Insurance Card, there are some file types, namely HEIC files, that do not upload to the portal. This is the file type created with an iPhone photo. Please make sure to convert any images to PNG or JPEG files.

c. Complete Housing Preferences Form:

This form is for students only, not for parents/guardians to complete. This form goes directly to our residence life hosts at CalArts. They will use the information to place you in the best possible housing option. All students live in the same dorm building, so it’s really a matter of matching you up with the most appropriate roommates. Therefore, be honest on the form!

2. Tuition Payment Instructions:

Your tuition invoice is also due by May 31st. CSSSA only accepts payment by credit or debit card. The invoice was sent to the student’s email. Within the email, you can click on the link provided to pay your tuition and fees. If you received financial aid to attend CSSSA, the amount due on the invoice has already been adjusted for you. If you received a full tuition award, you will not be receiving an invoice.

***Please complete all requirements on the Web Portal and pay your Tuition and Fees by Friday, May 31st!  If these requirements have not been completed the deadline, the spot will be given to another student on the waiting list.

Upcoming Webinars for Invited Students

Once all the steps are completed, you will be ready to attend the program! If you have any questions as you go, CSSSA will host 2 optional Zoom webinars to go through all of these steps and answer your questions. The dates and times are as follows:

Invited Student Webinar – Thursday – May 2 – 5:00 PM PST

Invited Student Webinar – Thursday – May 9 – 5:00 PM PST

CSSSA will email you links to attend these sessions. Keep checking your email, because we will also be hosting department specific webinars in late-May where you can ask your Department Chair detailed questions about your schedule and classes. There will be alumni present as well.

We look forward to welcoming you to attend CSSSA this summer. If you have any questions, please feel free to email (comments@csssa.ca.gov) or attend the upcoming webinars!
